Some thoughts on the New Year, in no particular order… Read More

New Years resolutions have never been my strong point, either making or keeping. Nevertheless, here are some thoughts on the New Year, mostly not my own, and in no particular order.

  • God is everywhere. Pay attention.
  • Live deliberately. Work to create a life of purpose and meaning, a life built on finer principle. Here is found joy, fulfillment, and satisfaction.
  • Go positive and go first. Stop waiting on other people to make the first move. Whether it’s apologizing to someone, reaching out to a friend, or pursuing an opportunity. Stop waiting on life to give you what you deserve and go out and make it happen.
  • Stay open to knowledge, new information, and change. Never stop learning. Never stop growing.
  • Take more naps.
  • The quality of your relationships determines the quality of your life.
  • No one ever tells you that bravery feels like fear.

  • Principles, persistence, and vision over tactics.
  • Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.
  • Where would you like to go? Who do you want to be?
  • Learn to dance.
  • Criticism of others is seldom productive. Stop it.
  • Look for the good everywhere and in everyone. Practice empathy and encouragement. Ignore the slights, up the compliments.
  • Stay hydrated.
  • Be active. Exercise. Practice physical, spiritual, and emotional wellness.
  • Start before you feel ready. The right time is now.
  • Be kinder.
  • Bring a smile to the day ahead. Share it freely. It’s contagious.
  • Focus less on judging others, and more on self awareness.
  • Stay present and grateful. Enjoy every sandwich.
  • Strive for peace, serenity, compassion, and love.
  • Be firm in your vision, flexible on the details.
  • Set aside time today to pursue your dreams.

Happy New Year my Friends!!

  1. Wonderful. Two to add to the list:

Be yourself: everybody else is already taken. Oscar Wilde

What would you attempt to do if you knew you couldn’t fail?

  2. Great stuff, JimBo
Yes, I hope Mr. Zevon enjoyed every single morsel.
Thank you for nourishing our continuing friendship and brotherhood. Happy New Year!

  3. I really needed this message. It enveloped me like a warm hug from the friendship and love I’ve experienced from the Wofford’s. Let’s keep reminding each other of the good news and our ability to spread it. As my beloved late husband used to say, “ We need to love each other real good!” I love you, Jim.
